Province reports one new case Sunday
Newfoundland and Labrador reported one new confirmed case of COVID-19 on Sunday.
The new case is travel-related and is a man in the Eastern Health region between 20 and 39 years of age.
A news release stated the man returned to the province from work in Alberta.
The man is self-isolating, and contact tracing by Public Health is underway. Anyone considered a close contact has been advised to quarantine.
Because of the case, Public Health is asking passengers who travelled on Air Canada Flight 7480 from Montreal to St. John’s that arrived on Wednesday, Jan. 13 to call 811 to arrange testing.
People are reminded to follow the special measures orders of the chief medical officer of health for isolation requirements. Even if someone receives a negative test result, Public Health is encouraging all passengers to continue monitoring themselves for symptoms for a full 14 days from the time of their arrival in the province.
The province has six active cases.
Three hundred and eightythree people have recovered from the coronavirus. One person is in hospital due to the coronavirus.
To date, 76,321 people have been tested.
Public Health is reminding people to remain vigilant and follow all public health measures to protect themselves, their families and their communities from the spread of COVID-19.
