CAREEN Valerie Mary

-

December 8, 1975 – April 10, 2021

It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Valerie on April 10, 2021 at the age of 45. Predeceased by her Nan & Pop (Mary & John Kenny), Grandma and Granda (Nellie & John Careen), Aunt Mary Walsh (Mike), Uncle Johnny Careen, Eugenie (Bill) Barron. Leaving to mourn with broken hearts is her Mom, Margaret (Wilf), Dad, Anthony (Theresa), sisters Karen (Joel), Chrissie (Trevor) and her brothers Eamon and Tony (Janiene). Her aunts and uncle of the Kenny side: Imelda Dunn (John Joe deceased), Gordon Kenny (Margie deceased), Marion Pittman (Jim), Anna Kenny, and Doreen Carey (Lawrence). Her paternal aunts and uncles: Nick Careen (Genevieve), Patsy Careen and Tom Careen. Her nephew and Godchild Nathan Hickey and her nieces Alana Careen, Charlotte Hickey, Kendra & Bridgette Greeley, Victoria & Emily (Godchild) Careen. Her many cousins and friends. Also left with fond memories are Valerie’s closest and lifelong friends Renee Cooney and Gail Collins. Valerie was a very special person. Even though she was the middle of five children her kind and considerate spirit quickly led her to be become the favourite among many of her aunts and uncles and extended family. She had a great sense of humour and an exuberant laugh. She loved watching funny shows and movies over and over again, especially the old Christmas classics. She and her brother Tony often would quote lines from these shows when reminiscing and chatting about whatever topic arose. Valerie was plagued by a seizure disorder throughout her adulthood but her illness certainly did not define her. She never complained nor did she ever want to be a bother to anyone. She was very independent, passionate about equal rights, very knowledgeable of a vast range of topics and also became a very skilled artist. We will miss her beyond words can express and will always keep her close in our hearts. We love you so much, Valerie. Rest in peace. Visitation will take place at Coombs Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 14, from 12:00-9:00. While following Covid-19 protocols. Funeral Mass will take place at Sacred Heart Church, Placentia on Thursday, April 15, 2021, by invitation only, due to Covid-19 restrictions. Interment to follow in Coombs Memorial Cemetery, Southeast.
