LEYTE, Phyllis Minnette (nee Piercey)

-

Phyllis was a gentle woman whose kindness, acceptance and love knew no limits. So it is, with broken hearts and beautiful memories we said good-bye at St. Luke’s Nursing Home, St. John’s on Sunday as Phyllis passed peacefully in the presence of her loving family. Pre-deceased by her parents Bessie and Harry Piercey; brothers Wilfred and George; sisters Ettie and Cora, all of Rocky Harbour, NL. Leaving to mourn her husband Mark Leyte, daughters Ina Leyte (George) and Pam Davies (Peter), grandchildren Megan Kinsella (Justin), Katie Hickey (Seth), Evan Davies (Breanna), special great granddaughter Ruth Minnette Ryan Kinsella, brother Ken Piercey (Ruby), sister-in-law Pearl Shave (Phil-deceased), brother-inlaw Jerry Leyte (Barb), sisterin-law Mary Leyte (Copperdeceased), her special friend Daphne Blackwood (Macdeceased), and a large number of nieces, nephews and friends. Phyllis’ greatest love was her family. For 64 years she made her home with husband Markie in Buchans, Grand Falls-windsor and Lewisporte. In retirement Phyllis moved with Markie to Conception Bay South to be closer to her children and grandchildren, who benefited greatly from her involvement in their lives. She will be remembered for her skill and creativity in the kitchen and the countless meals around her table, made with love and being sure nobody left hungry nor empty handed. Phyllis was a member of The Parish of the Ascension in Mount Pearl, a blessing in her life, where she was involved with fundraising for missions and committees resulting in an Award of Merit from the diocese which she shared with Markie. Her family would like to thank Rev. Lynn Courage for her presence in our time of need. Also St. Luke’s Nursing Home who cared for Phyllis in the last months of her life. To our friends and family who have reached out we would like you to know your support, prayers and condolences have been a great comfort to us. Cremation has taken place. At a later time visitation and a service will be held to pay tribute. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society. So goodbye for now Love of My Life, Mom, Nanny, Nannan, Sister, Sister-in-law, Aunt and Good Friend.

You will be forever in our hearts.
