BAILEY, Ed
Ed was a kind, gentle man, devoted husband, father, and poppy. He cherished spending time with his family and grandchildren. Ed was known in the softball community as a great "right fielder". We would like to thank his teammates in the softball and hockey leagues in St. John's and Mount Pearl, the St. John's Seniors Softball League, and the Canada Post Hockey League. Ed was a dedicated volunteer hockey
referee and softball umpire in St. John's and Mount Pearl, as well as a member of
the Knights of Columbus and the Wings in Pleasantville. He freely gave his time to volunteer for various charitable organizations, including
CUPW and the Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador St. John's Chapter. Predeceased by his
parents, Rita and George Bailey, three brothers George, Dave and Wayne and two sisters Helen Hearn and Elsie Legge, also by his mother-in-law and father-inlaw, Angela and Frank Lavigne. Leaving to mourn sisters Elizabeth Ann and husband Dave Antle, Terry and partner Betty Smith, along with many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by his three wonderful children Ian, Guy, and Nadine and daughter-in-law Dawn (nee Mccormick) and son-in-law Geoff Clarke. Also, by his three grandchildren who adored him, Alexa Bailey, Matthew and Jack Clarke, all were Poppy’s pride and joy! With great appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Roger Butler and nurse practitioner Treena Tricco and all the staff with the Dementia Program at the Miller Center.
Many thanks to the visiting Eastern Health homecare on-call nurses, Vivian Ryan and Jeremy Newman and the
occupational therapist Carolyne Chong. Many thanks to the homecare workers at A Better Living Home Care, Rosalyn Walsh, Michele Reneau and Glory Allison. To dear friends who helped and gave support along the way, Joan and Bob Melee, Mary and Gerry Rice, Sylvia and Wilf Snelgrove, Gloria Parsons, Brenda White, Mary Kieley, Margaret and Allen Snelgrove, Mable and Rueben Harding, Bengenia
and Derrick March, Sharon and Bill Hickey, and Julie and Dave Eveleigh. Also, to
our friends and neighbours, thank you for your kindness, it is truly appreciated! We would like to thank Father Flaherty and Father Earle from Mary Queen of the Peace Parish Church and the staff at Caul's funeral home. The loving and dedicated care that Ed received in his own home made a world of difference and would not have been possible without the dedication of his wife and family. Cremation has already taken place and a memorial service and celebration of life will be held at a later date. Donations in
