Weather photos from across Atlantic Canada

It’s been a while since any of us mainlanders have been to the rock. If all goes well, I know people with flock to Newfoundland later this summer. Imagine coming across a beach like this one? Jackie Ann Collins took this photo in Lumsden, N.L., last August. Who needs the Caribbean? The sand looks lovely, and you can’t beat that warm hospitality!

Any time the wind changes speed or direction with height, it’s called wind shear. Clouds travel with the wind. Depending on what layer of the atmosphere they are in, they move in different directions and at different speeds. This lovely photo taken by Tanya Gallant is perfectly framed; the island’s remarkable red soil adds to the beauty.

Susan Baldwin came across this lovely sunset scene in Eastern Passage, N.S. She points out that our evening skies have been painted with such pretty pastel shades this month. In a way, while it couldn’t look more different, this maritime scene reminds me of the farm. After a hard day’s work, there is nothing more satisfying than tucking away the tools of the trade and heading inside. The fresh air and the labour of the day always make sleep come quickly!
