SANNA, The Reverend Florence Ann

-

In the early hours of Thursday, July 15, 2021, our beloved friend, The Reverend Florence Sanna, completed her 72-year earthly journey at the Palliative Care Centre in St John's, NL. Florence was born and raised in Kenora, ON, the daughter of Bertha (1997) and Ted (2017). Her career began as a junior high school teacher in Yorkton, SK. Later she coowned a sporting goods store (Go-4- Sports Ltd.). She then studied at St. Stephen's College in Edmonton, AB and the Atlantic School of Theology in Halifax, NS following which she was ordained as a proud United Church of Canada minister (1994). She served in Labrador City at Carol Lake United Church (1994-2001), and in St. John's as a Chaplain (20012015). She was grateful for an abundant life, blessed by rich, loyal and trustworthy friends, and most of all by God's grace. She leaves to mourn a host of friends far and wide whose lives she enriched by her calm and steady presence, a great sense of humour, phenomenal organizational skills, wisdom and warm personality. She will be greatly missed by close friends Linda Braine, The Very Reverend Doctor Marion Pardy, The Reverend Marion Davis, The Reverend Jean Smith as well as other colleagues and friends. At Florence's request, there will be no visitation. A service to celebrate her life will be held at Barrett's Chapel, Hamilton Avenue on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. A reception will be held at a date to be determined. Donations will be gratefully received for Gower Street United Church, St. John's, NL or the Mission and Service Fund of the United Church of Canada. Expressions of sympathy will be gratefully received by email at brainelinda97@ gmail.com or Ms. Linda Braine, 524 - 50 Tiffany Court, St. John's, NL A1A 0G1.
