MARTIN, Bride

-

Our beautiful Mom, Bride Martin (nee Watson), of St. Vincent’s, St. Mary’s Bay, passed away peacefully, on October 22, 2021, at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital, while surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 92 years. She was pre-deceased by her husband Leslie, darling daughter Bertha, beautiful daughter-in-law Viola, precious great-granddaughter Isla and other members of the Watson and Martin families. Leaving to mourn her

children Rhonda (Tom), Cyril (Madeline), Dan (Madonna) Steve (Noreen), Les (Yvonne), Brenda (Jim)

and Paul and sister Pauline Fleming. There are also 24 grandchildren and 37 greatgrandchildren missing “Nanny”, each of whom she loved in her own special way. Mom was loved by her large extended family, friends, colleagues and her special company of friends and caregivers at Alderwood Estates. Our Mother and Nanny was unique. A born leader, teacher, community member, museum curator, volunteer, poet, painter, rug hooker, berry picker and avid reader. She was a strong, independent, courageous woman who was continually teaching all of us to the end. Her best role was mother and grandmother. Mom’s lifelong passion was to preserve her culture and history and to honour all veterans. She was proud of her community and worked tirelessly to ensure that St. Vincent’s, St. Stephen’s and Peter’s River continued to thrive and finally, Mom is now going back home to her beloved community. She left an indelible mark on the lives of everyone she met.

She was at her very core a very proud Newfoundlander.

A very special thank you is extended to Dr. Peter Morry
