Golf NL inducts three into hall of fame
Golf Newfoundland and Labrador has inducted three members into the provincial Golf Hall of Fame during its Annual Awards and Hall of Fame induction at Glendenning Golf in St. John’s.
Announced in a news release, Golf NL said Pauline Power, Dennis Langdon and Patricia Lacour of the Tamarack Golf Club were inducted into the Hall of Fame.
In 1962, Power joined the Grand Falls Club, volunteering in several local and provincial positions until 1970 when she was asked to fill the role of provincial Junior Development Chairperson.
At the end of her tenure, she joined the Canadian Ladies Golf Association to fill a similar role.
Power was inducted by the 2021 Hall of Fame class as a member of the Grand Falls Gold Club into the Builder category.
In 1998, Langdon — who was inducted to the Hall of Fame in the Contributor Volunteer category — became a member of the Tamarack executive as treasurer.
For the next 24 years, Langdon worked to build a strong team to better the golf experience, improve the maintenance of equipment, study the best way to grow greens, improve workplace culture, and set longer-term financial and growth plans.
Lacour, who was inducted into the Contributor — Employee category, joined the Tamarack Golf Club as a bartender in 1986.
In 1994, the kitchen team at the club was consolidated under the leadership of Lacour, which saw her handle many duties such as booking tee times, doing green fees, and janitorial work.
Golf NL also presented annual awards to Robert Squires and co-winner Jason Staff for Male Golfer of the Year.
Kathleen Jean received the Female Golfer of the Year, Mila Snook was awarded the Junior Female Golfer of the Year and Ryan Holwell received the Junior Male Golfer of the Year award.
Rodney Roberts, Golf NL president also accepted the Course of the Year award on behalf of Amaruk Golf & Sport Club and Level III Referee Paul Comeau was the recipient of the Referee of the Year Award.
