Fair and warm between parade of cold fronts

It seems unreal that it’s already the end of June, with summer vacations starting and July just ahead of us. I often say the weather forecast becomes that much more important as people try to plan around the weather.

The first of several cold fronts currently moving across Atlantic Canada may interrupt plans with rain over Nova Scotia, parts of Prince Edward Island and southwestern Newfoundland. As this front weakens, we’ll see the rain transition to scattered showers and gradually taper off.

The front will also moderate our temperatures, at least for one day, with lower humidity.

Fair weather returns for most of us on Wednesday, but fog may hang out along some coastal communities, and we’ll have a chance of showers in Newfoundland.

Another cold front arrives on Thursday, which will push some scattered showers and a risk of thunderstorms into the Maritimes and Labrador, then eventually Newfoundland.

Temperature-wise many locations will be back into the low-to-mid 20s on Wednesday and Thursday, with cooler temperatures on parts of the coast.

Then the all-important long weekend forecast.

Canada Day is looking fair across the Maritimes with a mix of sun and cloud but potentially some coastal fog and a few pop-up showers due to daytime heating.

Meanwhile, a weak lowpressure system will move off Newfoundland’s Avalon Peninsula and bring some rain to eastern Newfoundland to start Canada Day. However, there should only be a lingering chance of showers by the evening.

Temperatures away from onshore flow will remain in the low-to-mid 20s, with some areas potentially climbing into the high 20s. Humidity levels will also increase again, making it will feel warmer.

I’ll be closely watching the timing of a third cold front which could bring some broken showers on Saturday and Sunday.
