Stephenville Airport Corp. reaches agreement to sell airport
Stephenville Airport Corp, (SAC) announced it has reached an agreement to sell Stephenville Airport following board approval on Tuesday, June 28.
Both SAC and the Greater NL Partnership (GNLP), as parties to the sale, have signed the agreement and will now begin working toward satisfying the terms of closing in order for the transaction to be finalized, a news release indicated.
“I am thrilled to confirm that the airport corporation has reached an agreement to sell the facility. As a board, we hope that this will signal a new beginning for Stephenville Airport, the Town of Stephenville and the southwest coast,” said Trevor Murphy, chair of the board of directors, in the release.
The agreement was signed by Murphy and GNLP founder and CEO Carl Dymond.
GNLP said it will set in motion its business plans, starting in the next few weeks with the upgrading of the runway lighting to meet national standards for large aircraft.
The airport has also launched its new website and social channels showcasing its new logo and branding.
“Today I am very excited to announce the beginning of a new chapter for the Stephenville International Airport and the province of Newfoundland as whole. This province is my home, its values and identity will be pivotal in the daily operations of both the Stephenville Dymond International Airport (SDIA) and GNLP, my Newfoundland based corporation. I look forward to working with my amazing team and industry partners to increase the airport’s passenger traffic and build a world-class technological hub for Eastern Canada,” Dymond in his company’s news release.
