MAYNARD, Marlene Angela

It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our beloved Mother, Marlene Angela Maynard (nee Offrey), 78, St. John’s, NL. Marlene passed

July 26, 2022, surrounded by her beloved daughters Amanda, Colleen and Monique. Marlene officially retired in November, 2021 from a 40+ year career as a dedicated Insurance Broker to 100’s of clients. She loved politics and a good debate on current affairs. Her early years would find her on picket lines for community services. She was a role model for women entrepreneurs. If you told her she couldn’t do something or blocked her way she would prove you wrong and do it anyway. We are grateful for the medical teams at St. Clares and HSC, that worked to bring her as much comfort as possible.

With special thanks to her family Dr. Allison Drover and surgeon Dr Janelle Taylor for their compassion.

Marlene was predeceased by her husband, Ed, parents Nellie and Reginald Offrey, brothers Robert Offrey and Wilson Lavers, brother-inlaw Lawrence Patey, sisterin-law Margaret Henwood (nee Maynard), brothers-inlaw Sheldon Henwood, Truman Maynard, sister-inlaw Marie Maynard, and sisters-in-law Emma Maynard and Liza Maynard, and cousin-like-brother to us all Danny Burt. Her capacity for loving kindness was known by all. Her door was always open to friends, family & anyone in need.

Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, August 6, following brief visitation from 10 - 1 p.m. at Carnell’s Funeral Home. Services will be livestreamed for family and friends not able to attend in person at Carnells.com.
