It is with tremendous gratitude for his life that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfathe­r and great-grandfathe­r, John Owen Bursey, September 16, 1932 May 27, 2023. Born to Daniel and Elizabeth (Blackmore) in Port Union, N.L. John was predecease­d by his loving wife of 60 years, Angela Lillian (Gardner) Bursey; and his brother, Tom. Leaving to mourn his loving children, Johnny (Alison), Jennifer (Frank), Martha (Bill), Andrew (Kori), Elizabeth, and Angela (Kirk); siblings, Dolores, Carl, Marcie, Elizabeth and Karen; grandchild­ren, Stefanie (Mark), Emelie (Joshua), Daniel (Georgia), John, Anna (Colin), Ryan (Jenna), Erin (Gregor), Wyatt, Lilyanne (Justin), Saul, Liam, Alleigh-jane, Jack; and eight great-grandchild­ren. Dad had an infectious sense of humor and a true passion for the outdoors. He had a tremendous dedication to his family with his loving wife Lillian. Dad will be forever in our hearts. Special thanks to the Dementia Care team supported by Eastern Health. The ongoing support of this wonderful team of health care profession­als allowed our father to reside in his home as he wished. Thank you to all the staff involved in Dad's last month of care provided at Kenny's Pond Retirement Centre. All the staff were exemplary. Thank you to Angel of Hope agency for providing an outstandin­g home support worker, Abubaker "Hamed" who embraced Dad as a father. Family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral at 329 Freshwater Rd., today, Tuesday, May 30th from 11 a.m. 1 p.m. Service will follow from 1-2 p.m. Interment will take place in the Anglican Cemetery on Forest Road.
