DOVE, Frederick Richard ‘‘Ted’’

Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, in the presence of his loving family, Frederick Richard ‘‘Ted’’ Dove, on Tuesday, May 30, 2023, aged 80. Predecease­d by his father, Freeman Richard and his mother, Tilda Dove-brown (nee Mckinlay), he is remembered as a loving and devoted husband for over sixty years to his wife Heather (Pearce). He was a dedicated loving father for his three children, Lisa (Kevin), Michael (Patricia), and Christina, always there to offer them counsel and support. He was a fun and caring grandfathe­r to, Daniel, Liam, and Colin (their father Stephen), Noah and Michael (their father Brent), Emma and Ryan, who fondly recall visits to the house or cabin where Poppy always made them laugh and feel like superheroe­s. He was a loving brother to his sister, Janice (Dennis), and a cool uncle to her children, Cory (Susan and son Charlie) and Lesley. Much loved by his sisters-inlaw, Christine (Noel), both predecease­d, Pam (Kev), and Karen; brother-in-law, Bernard; nephews, Kevin (Kate), Chris (Tammy), Philip, and Ken (Lauren); and many dear friends and relatives. Ted was a hard worker, providing for his family at a very early age. He spent most of his career working with various department­s in both the provincial and federal government­s, including the Employment Developmen­t (Job Creation) and Planning and Coordinati­on branches of Employment and Immigratio­n Canada (eventually Services Canada). Ted loved to have a dance, especially to Elvis, have a catch, play the piano, and make his famous ‘Poppy’s Fudge’ for The Newfoundla­nd Chocolate Company. Family will receive visitors at Carnell’s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Saturday, June 3rd, from 2-4 and 7-9p.m. The funeral service will be held from the Carnell Memorial Chapel on Monday, June 5th, at 11a.m. with interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery on Kenmount Road.
