WOOD, Paul

-

It is with great sadness, I, Leona Wood, announce the sudden and unexpected passing of my beloved husband and best friend, Paul Dominic Wood on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, in Calgary, Alberta, age 60 years, born September 29, 1963. Paul and Leona moved from St. John’s, Newfoundland, to Calgary, Alberta, in 1996 where Paul worked as a Specialist in Project Management, offering advice to Engineering Companies referred to by his peers as both a “student” and a “master” of Project Management. A creative problem solver with a calm demeanor and overall great person. Paul had an ever-ending thirst of knowledge and ever-lasting passion to improve upon and ultimately seek best results based on best practices and his experience. Paul and Leona had realized their dream of moving to an acreage in the outskirts of Calgary in the community of Springbank with its beautiful, majestic surroundings and tranquility, from the calming Bow River to the magnificent fortitude of the Rocky Mountains. It is here Paul and Leona were inspired from wildlife visits particularly the deer and many bird species, Blackcapped chickadee, Downy Woodpecker, and Blue jay to the property and overall beauty of nature. Paul would enjoy endless hours as he coined the phrase, “tractor therapy” where he would jump on his Massey Ferguson “digger” and drive in the fields for hours of immense enjoyment with the warm summer breeze on his face. Paul is predeceased by his Dad, the late John Neville Wood, of Manchester, England; mother and father-inlaw, the late Leo Richard and Anne Marie Lawlor (nee Howard), St. Thomas, Newfoundland. Paul leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife and best friend, Leona of 30 years (Calgary) and in Newfoundland his loving motherm Barbara Wood (Nee Andrews); brothers, Mark, John and Lisa (Michael and Corey and families), Gerald and Valerie (Justin and Janel) and in Calgary, brother, Robert and Jackie (Riley, Julia and Sarah). Brothers-in-law, Howard and Vicki (Jennifer and Jeremy, and families, Edmonton) and Jude and Lynn (Ericka, Matthew, Jessica, Sabrina and Andrew and families, Newfoundland) and great nieces and nephews along with the many friends and relatives in Alberta and Newfoundland. Paul was an organ donor and his remains have been cremated as per his wishes. A celebration of Paul’s life and ceremony will be held in late Spring 2024 at the Eden Brook Funeral Home, Springbank, Alberta. Further details to follow Spring 2024.
