April 29, 1934 – February 23, 2024. George Anthony White of Torbay, NL, passed away surrounded by his children and family on February 23, 2024 at the age of 89 years, and waiting for him with loving and open arms was his beloved wife, Grace (nee Quigley). Predecease­d by his parents, John and Anna Maria White of Witless Bay; brothers, Mike, Martin, and Thomas; sisters, Margaret, Claire, Ellen, Carmel, Catherine and Marcella; special nephew, Bobby Quigley. Leaving to mourn are his children, Diane (Maurice Sheppard), Anne (Tom Lawlor), Wayne (Michelle) and John (Annette); one very special granddaugh­ter, Kiara; and his faithful companion, Shep. Also leaving to mourn is his sister, Barbara, brother John; and special nephew, Martin who came home many summers to visit and spend time with dad; along with a large circle of nieces and nephews; very special niece, Kay who spent many hours visiting and brightenin­g up dad’s days; special nephew, David Quigley and partner, Christine; and his children, Bradley, Melissa and Jeremy; Bobby’s daughters, Jenessa, Heather and Megan; and Adam Coady; friends, Clarence and Claire who would visit often for a coffee and a chat. Throughout his life, he had many careers where he worked hard and set a good example as a respectabl­e and honorable man. He taught himself many skills, loved to read, and was very passionate about horses and was well known for telling stories of his life experience­s. One of his greatest joys was his granddaugh­ter, Kiara, and whenever she would call or visit, it would be the highlight of his day. There are so many people who have helped during dad’s illness. Our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to Kenny Owen of Coombs Comfort Home Care who was so attentive and caring during dad’s last months. We would also like to thank the Paramedic Palliative Care Team – the Paramedics, Doctors Louise Rogers and Christine Zadorozny, nurse Carla Lambe, family doctor Sonny Collis, and Fr. Paul Lundrigan and Fr. John Sullivan. Thank you to the staff of the Palliative Care Unit at the Miller Center, you folks are truly angels that walk on this earth. Your tremendous support and care was very much appreciate­d and there are no words to extend our heartfelt gratitude. Cremation has taken place. Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, February 28th at 2 p.m. from Holy Trinity Parish, Torbay. Inurnment to follow at the R.C. Cemetery, Bauline Line, Torbay.
