It is with great sadness that the family of Myrtle Parsley wishes to announce her sudden passing on February 29, 2024, surrounded by her loving family and close friends. Born on Bell Island on September 19, 1948, Myrtle was a well-known member of the community through her 35+ years of dedicated service working with Dr. Tucker. In addition to serving as President of the Ladies Hospital Auxiliary for many years, Myrtle also volunteere­d with the Kids Eat Smart lunch program at St Augustine’s Elementary and served on the Board of Directors for both the Bell Island Figure Skating Club, and the Wabana Boys and Girls Club. Growing up on Bell Island, Myrtle moved to Montreal in 1967 and then on to Toronto a short while later where she married her high school sweetheart, Chris on Nov 6, 1971, following the birth of their daughter Crystal on November 1, 1971. Their son Brad was born the following year on Oct 31, 1972. In the summer of 1978, Myrtle and Chris returned to Newfoundla­nd to raise their children in their beloved hometown of Bell Island. Myrtle enjoyed long conversati­ons, socializin­g, reminiscin­g about old times, and having a cup of tea with one of her favorite sweets. Her favorite past times included playing Texas hold ’em, bingo, and dancing while listening to her favorite country music. Affectiona­tely known as "Muck", she leaves behind a legacy of laughter, warmth, and cherished memories. Predecease­d by her husband, Chris on August 14, 2016; parents, Lewis and Jean Pynn (Dwyer); and father and mother-inlaw, Richard and Hilda Parsley (Mayo). Myrtle leaves to mourn her daughter, Crystal (Bill); son, Brad (Lori); granddaugh­ters, Shelby (Ashton) and Jorja; sisters, Leady, Ginny (Ed), Leslie, Lori (Jason); special brother-inlaw, Kevin Parsley (Irene); close family friends, Carol, Kara, and Philip O’keefe, and Millie Delaney; along with many nieces and nephews; and countless friends and family. Resting and visitation to take place on Bell Island at Pendergast’s Funeral home on March 4, 2-9 p.m., and on March 5, 12-9 p.m. Funeral service at 2 p.m. on Wednesday March 6 at St Michael’s Parish, with a Celebratio­n of Myrtle’s Life at St Michael’s Hall immediatel­y following burial. Chris will also be laid to rest with Myrtle to fulfill their final wish of being together forever. May Myrtle find eternal peace in the arms of her late husband, Chris. She will forever be remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, and a doting grandmothe­r who made everyone around her feel loved.
