It is with appreciati­on for a life well lived, but with heavy hearts, that the family of Jim Casey announce his peaceful passing at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Charlottet­own, PEI, on March 4, 2024. Born in St. John’s NL on August 28, 1940, he was the only son of the late Augustine James Casey and Margaret (Mcnamara) Casey. Beloved husband of 61 years to Joan (nee Redstone). Devoted father of Sean (Deirdre Beep Ayre), Tim (Liz) and Joanne (Jason Horton). Grampie to Ryan (Jenna Mccarthy), Dean (Hannah Theriault), Clare (Ryan Graves), Thomas, Brett and Austin. Stepgrandf­ather to Maggie and Siân Evans, and Ciara and Tamara Horton. Step-greatgrand­father to Sullivan Woolridge. Jim will be greatly missed by his five sisters , Maureen (Frank) Nolan of Halifax, NS, Sandra Murphy of San Antonio, TX, Rosemary Gillies of Sarasota, FL, Ruth (Brian) Savaria of PEI, and Ursula (Kevin) Stamp of St. John’s, NL. He will be remembered with love by his numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Renowned for his leading entreprene­urial expertise, James Casey has had an enduring impact on the Atlantic region. As board chair of Atlantic Beef Products, he restructur­ed the management of the federally inspected processing facility, leading to its thriving operation in Prince Edward Island. Former president and CEO of Padinox Inc.(paderno), he was essential in establishi­ng the manufactur­er as one of the best-known Canadian cookware companies in the country. Building on his success, he has supported a variety of community causes, including the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Foundation. However, his devotion to Joan and his family was what meant the most to him. Always. Resting at Maclean Funeral Home Swan Chapel, Charlottet­own, PEI, with visitation on March 7th from 3 p.m.-6 p.m. AST. A funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer Church, Charlottet­own, PEI, on March 8th at 10:30 AST. Interment will take place at a later date.
