June 14, 1929 – March 9, 2024. Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the young age of 94 years. A husband father, grandfathe­r, great-grandfathe­r, brother and uncle. Predecease­d by his loving wife of 61 years Ruth Edna (Steele), 2016; granddaugh­ter Megan Cook, 1990; parents Arthur and Jenny Cook, parents-inlaw Overton (Doc) and Myrtle Steele, brothers, sisters and extended family. Leaving with many precious memories his children: Ruth, Susan Taylor (Mario), Ron Jr. (Sandra), Sharon Layden (Rick), Bruce (Shelley); grandchild­ren: Jason Taylor (Tiffany), Sarah Parsons (Gary), George Layden (Sam), Andrew Layden (Michelle), Becky Cook, Ronnie Cook, Matthew Cook (Becca), Erin Cook and Krista Cook; great-grandchild­ren: Cole and Avery Parsons, Tessa and Jack Layden, Alexis and Charlotte Taylor, Ethan Layden and Lucas Cook; siblings: Ray Cook (Shirley), Roy Cook, Joyce Squires and extended Cook and Steele family members. We would like to thank 4SB Neurology staff for all their care and kindness during Dad’s stay. Every hello, smile and fist pump were greatly enjoyed and appreciate­d. Many thanks to Dr. Dennis O’keefe and staff, EMS team and ER staff. Visitation will take place at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, on Tuesday, March 12th from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. and 5-9 p.m. Service will be held in the Barrett’s Memorial Chapel on Wed- nesday, March 13th at 11 a.m. with burial to follow at The Salvation Army Cemetery, Blackmarsh Road. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made to a charity of ones choice.
