The Newfoundland Rogues are back at the Mary Brown’s Centre in St. John’s this weekend and they’re looking to keep their momentum moving in the right direction.

The Rogues (12-7) welcome the Montreal Toundra to town for a three-game series starting on Thursday, March 20.

Newfoundland enters the series having won four of the last five games, including a three-game sweep of the Albany Patroons last weekend.

They sit in third place in the six-team Basketball Super League (BSL).

Meanwhile, the Toundra (5-9) have lost three of their last five and haven’t played since a loss to the Kitchenerwaterloo Titans on Feb. 25.

The Rogues won the only meeting between the two teams this season.

The Mary Brown’s Centre remains a haven for the Rogues, who are 10-1 this year on home court. Meanwhile, they are 2-6 on the road.

They lead the league in scoring 116 points per contest, while the Toundra is at the bottom with an offence that generates just 102 points per game.

The Rogues are led by allstars Armani Chaney and Marquis Collins, who are both atop the scoring leaderboard. Both Chaney (28.7 points per game) and Collins (22.6 points per game) are in the top five in league scoring, while Chaney also leads the league in assists with 10.4 helpers a contest.

Collins only trails teammate Omega Harris (48.5 per cent) in three-point shooting percentage. He’s knocking down 47.2 per cent of the three-pointers he takes.

The Toundra are led by guard Antoine Mason, who is averaging 20.6 points per game.

The series with the Toundra is in the middle of an eight-game homestand for the Rogues. Once they’re done with Montreal, Newfoundland will welcome The Basketball League’s Rhode Island Kraken for a two-game set. The Kraken are winless in five games this season.

The Rogues and the Toundra meet at the Mary Brown’s Centre for Game 1 of their series on March 21. The game is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
