KEARSEY, Thomas Joseph ‘‘Tom’’

January 2, 1930 – March 27, 2024. Passed away peacefully with family by his side at the Health Sciences Centre on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 in his 95th year. Tom was predeceased by his parents, William and Alice Kearsey; sisters, Agnes Ansara and Mary Codner; brother, Jack; and in-laws, Joe Cull, Alf Moakler, Mary Kearsey, and Norah Kearsey; son-in-law, George Einarson; and brother-in-law, Joe Ansara. Leaving to mourn are his wife of 67 years, Anne (née Ryan); his children, Joseph (Marjorie Scott), Monica (Scott Purdon), Denise (David Williams), Marlene, Helena, and Ian (Jessica); his cherished grandchildren, Eric, Inga, Hailey, Maggie, Kendra, Andrew, and Sarah; Tom’s brothers and sisters, Helen Cull, Anne Moakler, Frank, Patricia, Pat, Mercedes Patton (Doug), and Bill (Diane); his in-laws, Sylvia Kearsey, Bill Codner and the Ryan family of Middle Cove; a large number of nieces and nephews; and friends. Tom was faced with declining health over the past few years, but his sharp mind and eagerness to share his memories of the past never faded. Recently, he reminded one of his daughter’s that it was the 77th anniversary of starting his first job. We were always amazed at the detail of his recollections and delighted in hearing his stories of the past. The family would like to express their thanks and appreciation to the staff of the Emergency Department and 5NA at the Health Sciences Centre for their exceptional care and kindness over the past few days. Additionally, the phone calls, texts, and visits from family and friends near and far have eased the journey, and for this, we are forever grateful. Cremation has taken place.
