Predecreased by her loving husband of 45 years, Joseph Roberts, her son, Mark Roberts, parents, Michael and Maria O’rourke, sister, Bernice O’rourke, and brother-in-law, Al Davis. Ida was tremendously proud of her family. Left with a lifetime of wonderful memories are her sons, Greg (Sue) of Calgary, AB; Barry (Kit) of St. John’s, NL; Scott (Kerrie) of Prince George, BC; Tony (Tara) of Calgary, AB; daughter, Terri (Troy) of St. John’s, NL; daughter-in-law, Barbara Chapman of Oakville, ON; sisters, Rosalie (Boyd) Day of St. John’s, NL; Helen Davis, Saint Charles, MO; Valerie (Barlow) Hill, Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Maura, Madeline, Amelia, Keith, Shem, Eira, Joseph, Bridget, Doyle, Jordan, Anna, and Joshua; great-granddaughter, Violet; and a wide circle of relatives and friends in Gander and St. John’s. Never one to turn down a social gathering, day or night, Ida was a wonderful singer, a lifelong gardener, a late-night Christmas cake baker, an avid reader and dishcloth crocheter, an animal lover, and a devoted nan. Her deviled eggs were famous. Music was one of her greatest pleasures, filling her heart, soul, and home. She spent decades raising her voice to the heavens in various church and community choirs and took great pleasure in performing with her guitar and accordion groups at the St. John’s Retired Citizens Association on Bennett Ave. Ida was also a proud lifetime member of the Women’s Institute and the Catholic Women’s League and served in many capacities in both Gander and St. John’s. Her beautiful smile, tremendous kindness, and sharp wit will be remembered with fondness by the many people she touched throughout her long and wonderful life. Special thanks to the 6th floor staff at St. Clare’s, and the 3rd floor staff at Kenny’s Pond for her recent care. Funeral and burial have taken place. Funeral Mass is available online at: https://www. thebasilica.net/live/ Messages of condolence may be sent to: www.cauls.ca

Mom often reminisced about the wonderful times she spent sitting on the banks of the Gander River reading a book while Dad cast a line. We’d like to think she’s back there now.
