"Converge, collaborate and co-create" are the core of technl's aims for its new innovation centre on Hebron Way in St. John's, set to open later this spring.

These three words, says innovation centre president Megan Kay-fowlow, play a significant role in what the centre will represent.

"There a trio of guiding principles that are also a call to action and confirmation of how we want to work," she said.

But "CO" represents more than principles: it also represents the centre's name. During a media event on March 27, the official name was unveilled as CO. Innovation Centre.

'MORE THAN TWO LETTERS'

"For us, it's more than just two letters. It's designed to carry many meanings," said Kay-fowlow.

As the official name of the centre, Kay-fowlow said CO symbolizes unity and partnership. “It's a place where individuals and businesses can come together, share ideas, and drive NL’S tech ecosystem further,” said Kay-fowlow.

The plan for CO. Innovation Centre supports its mission: “It aligns with our vision and shows we support the process of collaboration,” said Kay-fowlow.

AIRPORT PARTNERSHIP

In addition to the unveilling, the CO. Innovation Centre logo will also make its mark at the St. John's International Airport, where it will be displayed on all luggage carts.

“There are a lot of leaders here in the tech sector, but when you're outside the province, you don't hear that as much,” said Kay-fowlow.

“That's a key thing for me, getting people as they come in. Now, when people access luggage, they'll see our branding, and our hope is they get curious about what that means.”

Kay-fowlow added that she also hopes when travellers leave, they will take the message with them.

“My goal is to get the message out there about how strong we are as a province, and what we have to offer,” she said.
