Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on March 23, 2024. Peggy Hatfield, aged 78 years. Peggy was a devoted mother, grandmothe­r and wife who enjoyed a rich and diverse group of extended family and friends. Predecease­d by her much loved and adored son Andrew in 2000, her devoted husband Lawrence (Larry) in 2002 and her parents William Martin in 1974 and Jean Martin in 1992 and sister Nancy this past October. In her final days, Peggy was surrounded by her son Lawrence; daughter-in-law, Shari; granddaugh­ter, Lauren; grandson, Lawson; best friend, Paula Yabsley; and nieces, Jackie Brockervil­le (and her Husband Max) and Jennifer Critch. Left to mourn is her sister, Jean (Clayton); and brothers, Bill (Marlene), Bruce and Bob (Jo). Also left to mourn are her large circle of relatives and friends including the extended Hatfield family, her neighbours on Winnipeg Street and her Bridge and Coffee groups. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, St John’s. Visitation on Saturday April 6, from 2-5 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. Funeral to take place at the Anglican Church of the Good Samaritan, 10 St. Clare Ave, St John’s on Monday April 8, at 10 a.m. with an interment following at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Topsail Road St. John’s. In honour of the Hatfield family’s extensive time away from home for Andrew’s medical care the family suggests that donations be made to Ronald Mcdonald House Charities of Newfoundla­nd and Labrador www.rmhcnl.ca in Peggy’s memory.
