One of Dad’s proudest moments was being recognized in the House of Assembly by the then speaker, the Honourable Harvey Hodder. As a young man and shortly after Confederation, Dad was a page in the old House of Assembly in the Colonial Building. He was invited back some 60 years later to receive special recognition. Dad was also proud of his Lebanese heritage. His grandmother was of the Tuma and Basha families who came to Newfoundland in the late 1800’s. Dad was a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus and a dedicated volunteer for Diabetes Canada. Dad retired from a career at Canada Post, most of which he spent as a letter carrier, delivering mail along many St. John’s streets. The family would like to express a very heartfelt and deepest appreciation to the nursing and personal care staff at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home for the care you provided our Dad in his last months. Your kindness and attention to his needs was exemplary. Also a special thank you to dear friends Paul and Maureen Dunphy for their support and kindness who always managed to get a chuckle out of Dad.
