Brad Gushue and his team won’t have long to wait to get another crack at Swedish skip Niklas Edin and his rink.

Just a few days after Edin bested Gushue in the championship of the 2024 World Championships, the two will meet again in the opening round of the 2024 Princess Auto Players Championships.

As it turns out, the pair are scheduled to open the last event of the season against each other. From there, Gushue will have to battle through a field that includes Bruce Mouat, Yannick Schwaller, Kevin Koe and others if he wants to bring home another career Grand Slam Victory.

Gushue sits at 14 career Grand Slam victories, including a Player’s Championship in 2016.

His team also includes viceskip Mark Nichols, second E.J. Harnden, lead Geoff Walker and coach Caleb Flaxey.

The Players Championships will run April 9-14 at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto.

It features 12 each of the top men’s and women’s teams in the world. It is also the last Grand Slam event for famed women’s skip Jennifer Jones.

For Gushue, it represents a chance to finish the season with a victory before taking a much-deserved break over the summer.

Along with a fourth silver medal at the world championships, Gushue’s rink won their third consecutive (sixth overall) Brier championship last month. They also took home a second straight Pan Continental Championship earlier this year.

So far this season, the team is 44-16.

The action gets underway on Tuesday, April 9, when Gushue and Edin meet at 8 p.m. NL time. The match can be viewed on Sportsnet.
