With broken hearts our Family announce the peaceful passing of Garry Smith, Brigus Junction and originally St. John’s, at the HSC on Saturday April 13, 2024, at the age of 71. Predecease­d by his parents, Jacob and Rebecca; sisters, Doreen and Donna; brothers-in-law, Levi, Russell and Gerald. Leaving to mourn with a lifetime of beautiful memories are Carol Ann, his sons, Keith and daughter-in-law Kim, Colin, Jason. Also, his two grandchild­ren, Nicholas and Chloe (Will). They were both his pride and joy. Nicholas will always be “Poppy’s Favorite Baseball Player” and Chloe will always be “Poppy’s Little Princess”. He was very proud of them and their biggest supporter. Garry also leaves to mourn his siblings, Gail and Wayne (Linda); sister-in-law, Marilyn (Brian); his nephews, Paul, Stephen, Phillip; niece, Ashley; and a large extended Family. Leaving behind many special friends including Lincoln, Robyn, Eric, Doug, Albert, Jim, Johnny, Bob, Steve, Ray, Kevin, Dave, Soupy, Glen, Bob and Bert and countless others over the years. His former colleagues at B&K Carpet, Empire Carpet and Kent. Thank you to everyone that visited, called or messaged Garry in the hospital. Our Family would also like to thank all the doctors, nurses, paramedics and staff in Carbonear, St. Clare’s and HSC hospitals for their kindness and support during this difficult time. Visitation and Funeral Service will be held at Barretts Funeral Home on 328 Hamilton Ave in St. John’s on Friday, April 19th. Visitation hours are from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Funeral Service will be in the Chapel at 2 p.m. For those unable to attend the Service in person, it will be live streamed online from Barretts Funeral home website: www.barretts.ca Cremation has taken place and Garry’s ashes will be spread at a later date. Flowers greatly appreciate­d or donations in his memory can be made to the Heart & Stoke Foundation.
