It is with great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of John Joseph Mulrooney aged 76, in the presence of his family, at the Carbonear General Hospital on March 28th. Predecease­d by his father, Louis; and mother, Kathleen (O'keefe); his brother, Paul. Lovingly remembered by his wife of 16 years, Lorna (Crocker); his daughters, Kristine, Kerri (Daniel Tatone), Robyn Johnstone (Chris); his son, Sean (Kayla Bernard) and their mother Susan (Coish); stepdaught­er, Krista Rogers (Craig); stepson, Justin Price (Natalie Roy); grandchild­ren, Liam and Emily Johnstone, Maci Mulrooney, Dylan Rogers and Brody Patten; sisters, Peg Martin, Louanne Kinsella (Cy), brother, Denys (Ulrike Zuschlag; sister-in-law, Linda Mulrooney, Faye Sooley (Randy); brother-in-law, Ross Crocker; as well a a large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. John graduated form Memorial University in 1969 with a Bachelor of Applied Science and went on to study Electrical Engineerin­g and graduated from Waterloo University in 1973. He worked in ON until he and Susan moved to NL in 1974 to take the position of Director of Engineerin­g at ERCO Industries in Long Harbour until it closure. John then moved back to ON and continued working in his field and retired from Alectra Utilities in Vaughn in January 2015, where he was Director of Smart Grid Technologi­es. He and Lorna moved to Heart's Delight permanentl­y in January 2021. He immediatel­y became involved in the community and was elected to the Town Council in November 2021. John was a very generous, caring, optimistic person, who believed there was no problem that could not be solved, it was just details, details or Doodah! He loved playing his piano, woodworkin­g, model plane frying and learned to play the accordion after moving to Heart's Delight. A Celebratio­n of his Life will take place at a later date.
