Lucic’s wife files for divorce after domestic violence allegation

-

Milan Lucic and his wife are heading towards divorce, months after he was arrested for allegedly physically abusing her during a fight.

Brittany Lucic filed documents on Monday, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their divorce, according to TMZ.

The date of separation is listed as Nov. 17, 2023, which is the day before the Boston Bruins star was arrested.

The argument reportedly started over the location of Milan’s phone and he allegedly put his hands on Brittany, according to authorities. He was charged with assault and battery on a family member stemming from the incident.

However, the case was dismissed after Brittany decided not to testify against her husband.

The 17-year NHL veteran was put on indefinite leave of absence from the Bruins immediately after the arrest and hasn’t played for the team since.

“The organization takes these matters very seriously, and we will work with the Lucic family to provide any support and assistance they may need,” the team said in a statement at the time. “We will have no further comment at this time.”

“As an organization it’s something we take extremely seriously,” head coach Jim Montgomery added, per the Boston Globe.

“(Lucic) is taking a leave of absence from the team right now and we support the Lucic family, and we will continue to provide support and help for the Lucic family and out of respect for their privacy, that’s all I’m going to comment on the details right now.”

The couple were married in 2012 and have three children together: Valentina, who was born in 2013, Nikolina, born in 2015, and Milan Jr., born in 2018.

In the divorce filing, Brittany reportedly is asking for custody of the children and that Milan can visit them under supervision. Postmedia/reuters

She also asked for spousal support from the former Stanley Cup champion.
