CAPE SPLIT PRESS GOES INTERNATIONAL
Independent publishing house Cape Split Press will be participating in the Frankfurt International Book Fair for the second consecutive year.
Running from Oct. 12 to 18, two books by Annapolis Valley author David A. Wimsett will be featured. This year, the fair will be held virtually (https://www.buchmesse.de/en/digital-fair) due to COVID-19. Publishers and other industry representatives from around the world attend the fair, the largest of its kind in the world.
Wimsett’s books are from The Carandir Saga, an epic fantasy series set in a world of gender equity where women and men have the same rights, opportunities and authority. Wimsett composed music for the novels, placing complete scores with lyrics in appendices.
The first two books in the series, Dragons Unremembered and Half Awakened Dreams, released Sept. 21, will be featured.
KINGS RESIDENTS RECEIVE TAX BILL EXTENSION
Taxpayers in the County of Kings have been given an extension on the due date for municipal property taxes.
Tax bills are issued twice a year in Kings County. There is an interim bill based on 50 per cent of the previous year’s tax levy issued in May. A final bill reflecting any changes in tax rates andor assessed property value is normally due by Sept. 30.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the due date of the final bill has been extended to Oct. 31.
