Bob Best, a candidate for Kings County, recently sat down for a Q&A:
Q. What’s your full name? A. Hi, my name is Bob Best Q. Where are you from? A. I am running for county councillor for District 7.
I was born in Berwick, N.S. I grew up on our family farm in Welsford and now live with my family on our family farm in Berwick.
Q. What did you do before you decided to run for office?
A. I was employed by Canada Post. I have managed the Kings Mutual Century Center for the past 35 years and I am a full-time beef farmer.
Q. Why have you chosen to run in this election campaign?
A. I have chosen to run in this campaign again because I feel after eight years of being elected to council that I have been a great role model and a great supporter and I work for the people of my district. I feel that I still have so much to accomplish and deliver in District 7.
Q. What do you see as the biggest strength/asset of the community/region and what measures would you take to capitalize on them?
A. Without a doubt, Kings County is a wonderful place to live, work and play. We have so much to offer. We are a very diverse population … we need to keep growing our population, support all future endeavours and make decisions that benefit all residents of Kings County.
Q. What do you feel is the key challenge facing the community/region and how would you work to address it?
A. Taxes are always No. 1 with me. I would love to see the population of Kings County grow and prosper and this would lower residential as well as commercial taxes.
Q. What one message do you hope gets out to the voters during this election campaign?
A. My message is simple: we need everyone to work together for the better of all residents of Kings County.
