There are several ways to support Annapolis Valley businesses, and the community in general, through the Valley REN’s ACT Local campaign.

Similar to other buy local campaigns, people are asked to shop at Valley businesses this holiday season and beyond. Unlike other buy local campaigns, ACT Local urges residents to take other actions in support of area businesses.

The campaign is designed to be accessible to anyone who wants to help, whether or not they have money to spend. A toolkit will be created for anyone who wants to participate.

Other ways of supporting local businesses include spreading the campaign’s buy, live and grow local message when talking with family and friends. People can make social media posts promoting specific businesses or Annapolis Valley businesses in general (or sharing such posts made by others). People could also help by volunteering in the community, whether online or in person.

Through a series of videos and digital and radio ads, the campaign will highlight businesses and showcase modifications made to continue operating safely during COVID-19. Ads will direct audiences to upcoming local events and promote local business offerings, websites and digital media.

The campaign will promote local businesses offering goods and services online. Supports will be provided to businesses that want to sell online but are not currently doing so.
