Make cooking easier with Meyer

ABSOLUTELY FABULOUS IN YOUR HOME

There are essentials for every kitchen and cook. Good knives and cookware, cutting board, functional gadgets and utensils are the first to come to mind. Meyer cookware falls into the essentials category, in particular, the SuperSteel products. Not only is this a ‘made in the Maritimes’ brand, it is made to compete with much higher priced cookware.

Here is why it will perform well in your kitchen.

The SuperSteel line of cookware has fry pans, both non-stick and stainless steel, offers saucepans in three sizes and includes several Dutch ovens. What makes SuperSteel work so well is in the construction. It is a tri-ply with 18/10 premium stainless steel sandwiching an aluminum core.

The combination of metals promotes the best of each material. Stainless steel is inert, great for cooking as it is non-reactive with acidic foods, heats well and holds heat but doesn’t conduct it well. Aluminum heats very quickly with little heat retention. By combining a centre layer of aluminum with a top and bottom layer of stainless, you have a superior cooking pan or pot. It gives weight to the base with no hot spots. The construction is seamless

(no encapsulated base) which allows the aluminum to wrap up the sides of the pan for even better heat distribution.

The quality is also in the design of the SuperSteel cookware. With riveted handles, nice big rounded handles that are easy to hold on to, it feels solid. The Vshaped opening where the handle attaches allows heat from the stove to escape up into the air instead of transferring along the handle.

This keeps your handles, especially on the fry pans, cooler for longer. Metal handles also make the products oven safe.

The curved lip edge of the cookware makes it drip free. And the straight sides help to reduce evaporation. The lids are reverse curved to fit properly and firmly. The slight dome curve on the lid helps steam to fall down into the pot — a self-contained cooking system.

SuperSteel fry pans come in three sizes and two finishes. The stainless steel pans are excellent when you want some caramelization in your frying (that’s where so much flavour comes from) and the non-stick are perfect for eggs and other sticky foods. Meyer has a contract with Nordic Ware out of the US for the non-stick coating. It has been a bakeware standard for years and the superior non-stick performance works well in the fry pans too.

Oven proof, induction ready, tri-ply, SuperSteel by Meyer is a must for serious cooks, and for those of us who just want great performance with easy clean up. The made in Canada part is icing on the cake.
