Junior A Valley Wildcats return to action

- CONTRIBUTED

After a pause in the MHL season, the Junior A Valley Wildcats are set to return to the Kings Mutual Century Centre Feb. 25 and 27.

The Miramichi Timberwolves come to town for a Friday night tilt to open the homestand. Game time is 7 p.m. The Cats’ are in action again that Sunday for a 5:30 p.m. puck drop against the South Shore Lumberjacks.

The Wildcats are looking to pick up on a successful first half of the MHL season. They currently sit in third place in the Eastlink South division with a 12-11-2-1 record. Captain Luke Wilson has been the standout scorer in the Valley, leading the squad with 30 points in 25 games played.

The organization did not, however, rest on its laurels during the break. Head Coach/GM Brandon Benedict made some key acquisitions for the stretch run. A major deal with the Fredericton Red Wings brings in their former team captain, Philippe Casault, adding key leadership and scoring punch.

The forward corps got further reinforcements in the form of Riley Spears, another trade acquisition from the South Shore Lumberjacks.

The team was also thrilled to have Cam Henderson reassigned to the team from the Acadie-Bathurst Titan of the QMJHL.

The Wildcats are excited to welcome fans back to the Kings Mutual Century Centre at 50 per cent reduced capacity per Public Health regulations. There will be 500 tickets available and the entire organization is excited to get back on the ice and have Valley fans pack the house.

The Feb. 27 game date is also Meet the Wildcats Night. The players will be available in the lower concourse postgame for autographs and a meet and greet. This year’s Wildcats hockey cards will also be launched on this fun night of hockey and fan appreciation.

As always, tickets are available online at showpass.com/wildcatstickets.
