Making technology work

- JOEY FITZPATRICK VALLEY WIRE

Information technology is omnipresent in today’s world. Providing fast reliable IT service to both companies and individuals is the job of Glyn Whiteley, owner of Fundy Tech Solutions in Meteghan.

With some three decades of experience in the IT sector, Whiteley started the company just over two years ago and serves clients in the fisheries, medical services, nursing homes and other sectors, from Annapolis Royal to Cape Sable Island.

“We provide everything from infrastructure, cybersecurity, backup solutions, hardware setups and IT-based phone systems,” Whiteley says. “Basically, any type of technology you would need in business, we can provide.”

The professionals at Fundy Tech Solutions will provide these services in the comfort of the client’s residence or business location.

While business owners understand the need to stay up to date with the latest technology, in many cases they do not have the time or expertise to devote to their company’s IT requirements.

“For most small- and medium-sized companies, it’s probably not cost-effective to have their own in-house IT department,” Whiteley says. “I can provide managed IT services remotely.”

Companies can outsource their technology needs so they can concentrate on their core business. Fundy Tech Solutions partners with bestin-class technology vendors to make sure a client’s hardware and software is expertly maintained.

“The scope of managed IT services can be very broad,” Whiteley explains. “We can ensure that your access points, network switches and firewalls are all up to date.”

Fundy Tech Solutions will monitor all aspects of a client’s IT, providing remote and on-site support, cloud services management, cybersecurity, consultation, as well as providing IT services that may be specific to a client’s needs. They also provide disaster recovery services and support, so data can be readily restored in the event of a disaster.

With an extensive product portfolio, the company can offer end-to-end network support, with equipment from leading edge manufacturers.

“We can build a complete network stack,” Whitely explains. “This can include features like access control and cameras that will allow the client to see what is happening in their building from a remote location.”

Cybersecurity is critical in the digital age and encompasses measures to safeguard not only computers and networks, but also the valuable data they house. Defending clients against unauthorized access and threats lurking in the digital landscape is a specialty at Fundy Tech Solutions. Rather than waiting for threats to manifest, the company takes a proactive approach to cybersecurity.

“We’re constantly monitoring, auditing and alerting clients to any suspicious activity or unauthorized access requests to their network,” Whiteley explains.

“We also conduct tests and cybersecurity drills and teach best practices to a client’s employees.”

The company offers a comprehensive cybersecurity solution that protects all parts of a client’s technology stack, from cloud services access to network infrastructure all the way down to the individual user’s machines.

“If an employee is downloading movies on company machines or surfing inappropriate content, I will get a report indicating this,” Whiteley says. “It’s our job to make sure our client’s network is not being misused.”
