County rolls out their new pub­lic wash­room plan

Mu­nic­i­pal fund­ing brings porta-pot­ties to County, helps Bras d’or Yacht club wash­rooms re-open

Porta-pot­ties re­quested for five dis­tricts in Vic­to­ria County have been in­stalled for the re­main­der of the 2018 tourist sea­son. Units are lo­cated as fol­lows: Washabuck Com­mu­nity Cen­tre (1), Cabot Trail Mar­ket in Cape North (1), Bay St. Lawrence Wharf (1), Ski Cape Smokey in In­go­nish (2) and Wreck Cove Gen­eral Store (2).

Ac­cord­ing to mu­nic­i­pal coun­cil, rental of the porta-pot­ties will cost $150 a month per unit plus any other costs as­so­ci­ated with ser­vic­ing the units.

In Baddeck, funds orig­i­nally re­quested by War­den and Dis­trict 3 Coun­cil­lor Bruce Mor­ri­son for porta-pot­ties have been redi­rected to the Bras d’or yacht club in or­der to re­open their wash­rooms to the pub­lic. The County com­mit­ted $3000 to the yacht club in June to re­open its wash­rooms to the pub­lic. Com­modore Eileen Wood­ford said the Baddeck Vil­lage Comis­sion has com­mited $1500 to be given to the yacht club at the end of tourist sea­son.
