County rolls out their new public washroom plan
Municipal funding brings porta-potties to County, helps Bras d’or Yacht club washrooms re-open
Porta-potties requested for five districts in Victoria County have been installed for the remainder of the 2018 tourist season. Units are located as follows: Washabuck Community Centre (1), Cabot Trail Market in Cape North (1), Bay St. Lawrence Wharf (1), Ski Cape Smokey in Ingonish (2) and Wreck Cove General Store (2).
According to municipal council, rental of the porta-potties will cost $150 a month per unit plus any other costs associated with servicing the units.
In Baddeck, funds originally requested by Warden and District 3 Councillor Bruce Morrison for porta-potties have been redirected to the Bras d’or yacht club in order to reopen their washrooms to the public. The County committed $3000 to the yacht club in June to reopen its washrooms to the public. Commodore Eileen Woodford said the Baddeck Village Comission has commited $1500 to be given to the yacht club at the end of tourist season.
