Wil­liam (Bill) Mac­don­ald passed away peace­fully with fam­ily by his side at Vic­to­ria County Me­mo­rial Hos­pi­tal on Sept. 23, 2018. Born in Tar­bot, Sept. 18, 1937, Bill was a son of the late Mur­dock and Rachael (Rita) Mac­don­ald. Bill is sur­vived by his lov­ing wife, Aleta Humphreys. He was a dot­ing un­cle to neph­ews, Don­ald (Beth) Dun­lop, David (Grace) Dun­lop, Wayne (the late Cathy) Mac­don­ald, Dale Mac­don­ald; and nieces, Diane (Mike) O’sul­li­van, Jan­ice (Dave) Phillips, Amy Mac­don­ald; sis­ters-in-law, Janie-lee Si­las and San­dra (Harry) Fer­gu­son. Many grand-nieces, grand-neph­ews, cousins and friends also mourn his loss. Bill was pre­de­ceased by his first wife, Heather (Fowler); sis­ter, Anna (Gor­don) Dun­lop; and brothers, Don­ald (Is­abel) and Mur­tice (Dolly). He re­ceived his BA de­gree from Mount Al­li­son Uni­ver­sity. From 1955 to 1987, Bill proudly served in the RCAF, re­tir­ing in Ot­tawa as Ma­jor, Pro­cure­ment and Sup­ply Divi­sion. He re­turned to his Cape Bre­ton roots, tak­ing great pride in restor­ing and beau­ti­fy­ing his an­ces­tral prop­erty. Bill and Aleta shared won­der­ful trips to New­found­land, Las Ve­gas, B.C. and the Mar­itimes. He en­joyed be­ing a hos­pitable host to fam­ily and friends who vis­ited over the years. A fu­neral ser­vice was held on Sept. 27th at St. An­drew’s Pres­by­te­rian Church, North River, with Rev. Fern Reeve of­fi­ci­at­ing. Dona­tions may be made to the Cana­dian Can­cer So­ci­ety or char­ity of choice.
