Dutch Eggnog or Advocaat
(serves about 12)
9 large egg yolks 1 tsp vanilla
2 cups sugar 2 cups brandy
Beat together egg yolks and sugar until light and pale yellow. Add vanilla.
Place this mixture in a double boiler over medium heat, and slowly whisk in the brandy. Allow to warm through, whisking all the time as it thickens. Do not allow it to get too hot, or it will curdle.
Turn the heat to low, and serve in small glasses with a teaspoon in each. Setting your house on fire first will add to the comfort affect, but I don’t recommend it.
