Ten Facts about National Canadian Film Day 150
1. NCFD 150 is a SIGNATURE PROJECT of Canada 150, our celebration of the nation’s sesquicentennial. 2. It’s going to be the BIGGEST FILM FESTIVAL IN THE WORLD. EVER. How do we know? Because nobody’s ever held 800 film events across the world’s second-largest country on one day before. 3. Did we mention that it will involve over 800 community screenings on APRIL 19, 2017? 4. NCFD 150 is AN UNPRECEDENTED CELEBRATION OF OUR FILM CULTURES— the biggest in our history to include English, French, and Indigenous Canada. 5. REEL CANADA is the organization behind this ambitious (and fun) party. We’ve been showing Canadian films to new audiences for twelve years, and we’ve discovered something remarkable: they love the films. 6. We are making CANADIAN FILMS AVAILABLE TO EVERY CANADIAN. There’s no barrier great enough to keep us from our audiences, whether we get to them on foot, on air, or online. 7. What’s a film festival without special guests? FILMMAKERS will travel to FLAGSHIP SCREENINGS in Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Halifax, and St John’s, as well as many smaller centres. 8.
