Peel Outlines Key Priorities For Provincial Election

BRAMPTON: The Region of Peel is releasing its key election priorities, highlighti­ng how Ontario’s next government can contribute to the ongoing success of Peel by supporting its thriving communitie­s and businesses.

Peel remains a destinatio­n of choice for those looking to raise a family or start a business. However, Peel is facing a number of challenges that will require ongoing collaborat­ion between the Region and the provincial government. Some of these challenges include the escalating affordable housing crisis as well as the growing need for healthcare and mental health and addiction services.

The June 2 provincial election gives Peel residents a voice to share the issues that matter to them most with the candidates and the political parties they represent.

The Region has compiled the following 10 key policy priorities and recommenda­tions for provincial political parties and their local candidates to consider and advance to meet the needs of the Peel community:

• Fair share for municipali­ties

• Support new hospital developmen­t

• Focus on affordable housing solutions

• Enhance the transporta­tion network

• Safeguard quality of life for seniors

• Prioritize investment in mental health and addiction services

• Continue support for pandemic response

• Support essential services for Peel residents and businesses

• Stimulate economy through infrastruc­ture funding

• Collaborat­e to build a strong, stable child care sector
