Pierre Poilievre Demands Trudeau Reject Toronto’s request to Legalize Hard Drugs
The City of Toronto has sought your permission to legalize hard drugs, as you did in British Columbia. Iím writing you to demand that you reverse your support for legalizing crack, cocaine, heroin, meth, and other hard drugs and to reject the City of Torontoís request.
In British Columbia, your dangerous hard drug legalization experiment has caused chaos in hospitals, playgrounds, parks, and public transport, which the NDP Premier, David Eby, finally admitted last week.
You decided to ignore all evidence when you granted the BC NDPís request for the legalization of hard drugs, and in doing so, have contributed to a wave of overdose deaths. Since you formed the government, more than 42,000 Canadians have died of drug overdoses, and in British Columbia alone, there has been a nearly 400 percent increase in drug overdose deaths.
Worse still, your taxpayer-funded hard drug program has allowed these dangerous drugs to be diverted to vulnerable Canadians, including teenagers and children. While the cost of nearly every essential Canadians need to live has skyrocketed because of your policies, the street price of hydromorphone has fallen dramatically, condemning those suffering from addiction to a life of misery. Common Sense Conservatives are calling on you to take urgent action and reject this request before more chaos erupts in our cities and more lives are lost. If you allow Toronto to legalize hard drugs, as you did with British Columbia, the only outcome will be leaving the most vulnerable Canadians to a life of misery and despair.
Instead of continuing to pursue your failed experiments of legalization and taxpayer-funded hard drugs, you must start investing in treatment and recovery so we can bring home our loved ones drug-free. Only then will we restore hope to all Canadians.
