It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Thorold

Bazaars, bake sales and auctions are happening all across Thorold this weekend to help kick- start your holiday shopping.

The ladies at the Thorold Seniors Centre have been busy baking meat pies for their Christmas bazaar happening Saturday, 9 a. m. to 1 p. m.

Thorold Senior Associatio­n treasurer Elaine D’Amico says there will also be a bake sale, handmade crafts such as knitted blankets and mini ornamental Christmas trees, as well as a penny sale, lottery, draws for food baskets, and a flea market featuring collectibl­es and antique treasures, furniture, toys and small items for children to buy.

Homemade chili will be served for lunch.

All proceeds from the bazaar help fund seniors’ activities.

The Seniors Centre is at 8 Carleton St. S.

At 10 Ormond St. N., Cobbleston­e Gardens Retirement Residence is hosting its annual Jingle Bell Bazaar from 10 a. m. to 1 p. m. Saturday, with a bake sale, penny sale, white elephant table and draws.

Doors open at 6 p. m. Saturday for the 22nd annual Thorold Community Activities Group Charity Auction, featuring a silent auction followed by a live auction at 7 p. m. Light refreshmen­ts will be served and a cash bar will be available. Tickets cost $ 15 and can be purchased by calling 905- 2270545, or by visiting the TCAG office at 131 Richmond St.

Proceeds from the event support recreation­al and cultural programmin­g in Thorold.
