3-point weekend

Tyler Ray, Josh Lamb and Trent Groulx each scored a goal and the Welland Niagara Street Pharmacy Tigers tripled Fort Erie 3-1 in major atom A playoff action.

Jordan Raso tallied for the Tigers in a 1-1 tie with Lincoln.

Facing eliminatio­n

Jack Moorman netted two goals, Zach Briggs, Ben Doherty and Will Harper also scored as the Welland Tigers defeated Erie North Shore to 5-1 forcing a deciding game in sixpoint Ontario Minor Hockey Associatio­n minor midget quarter-final. Kyle Skulj replied for Welland in a 3-1 loss in the series opener, with Brett Gregory, Doherty and Moorman providing the offence in a 4-3 loss in Game 2. Hayden Scott, Briggs and Doherty scored for Welland in a 3-3 tie, and Eric Porter and Briggs each scored twice in a 4-0 victory in the fourth game of the series. Bruce Frechette earned the shutout.

Bantams sidelined

Two goals from Jacob Passmore and singles from Kaden Falardeau and Brayden Flint weren’t enough to prevent the Welland Buckner’s Source for Sports Tigers from being eliminated in the Ontario Minor Hockey Associatio­n minor bantam A quarter-finals.

A 7-4 loss at home gave St. Thomas the series seven points to one. Aidan Arsenault, Falardeau and Flint replied for Welland in a 3-3 tie in the series opener.

Ryan Andrews and Ethan Fox scored for the Tigers in a 3-2 loss in Game 2, and Arsenault scored twice in a 5-2 loss in the third game.

Tykes stay undefeated

Mackenzie Welychka scored three goals, and the Welland Mike

Knapp Ford Tigers remained undefeated in tyke minor-developmen­t league play.

William Bonello rounded out the scoring for Welland in a 4-1 victory over Glanbrook that improved the team’s record to 19-0.

Dylan Wood, with four goals, Blake Hudak and Blake Seguin, two goals apiece, Sebastien Boucher, Jordan Hotham, Noah Rousseau and Sebastien Boucher and Bonello scored in a 14-0 defeat of St. Catharines. Jackson MacLeod and Brady Matte shared goaltendin­g duties.

Novices trail series

The Welland Youngs Insurance Tigers trail a best-of-five Ontario Minor Hockey Associatio­n novice A semifinal against Grimsby two games to none. Jaxon Welychka, with two goals, Austin Bovine and Mackenzie Taylor replied for Welland in a 5-4 loss in the series opener, while Michael Pope, Bovine and Welychka scored in a 7-3 loss in the second game. Game 3 is 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Jack Ballantyne Memorial Youth Arena.

Bovine, Taylor and Welychka, with two, Grayson Mari and Pope scored to give Welland an 8-4 defeat of St. Catharines completing a threegame sweep in the quarter-final round. Mari and Pope netted two goals and Cash Brown and Bovine also scored in a 6-0 defeat of St. Catharines in Game 2. Nathan Buliung earned the shutout,

Owyn Fewkes was Mr. Zero in a 10-0 victory in the series opener.

Series tied 1-1

Brodie Thoms’ natural hat trick was all the scoring the Welland Mike Knapp Ford Tigers needed for a 3-0 victory in Game 2 of a best-of-five Ontario Minor Hockey League quarter-final versus Elmira.

Max Brook recorded the shutout as Welland avenged a 3-2 loss in the series opener. Daniel Legault and Thoms tallied for the Tigers.

Peewees prevail

Logan Joiner netted two goals and Owen Cotter also scored to help the Welland Century 21 Gino Villella Tigers edge the Pelham Panthers 3-2 in Niagara District Hockey League peewee A playoff action. Pelham scoring informatio­n was not submitted. Welland opened post-season play with a 5-1 defeat of Thorold thanks to goals from Logan Joiner and Victor Lalonde, with two each, and Jacob Gaspari.
