Indecent act at red light results in probation
A Thorold man caught masturbating at a red light has been placed on probation for 18 months.
Kevin Servos pleaded guilty in Ontario Court of Justice in St. Catharines on Wednesday to a charge of committing an indecent assault.
In October 2017 shortly before 9 a.m., court was told, a woman was driving a “higher SUV” along Glendale Avenue on her way to work when she stopped at a red light and noticed the driver beside her was looking at her and masturbating.
The woman took photographs of the man with her cellphone and continued on to work and called police.
Assistant Crown attorney Graeme Leach told the judge the defendant was convicted of a similar offence in the past and placed on probation.
There could have been evidentiary issues had the latest incident gone to trial, he added, as the photographs taken by the complainant had subsequently been deleted.
Judge Peter Wilkie imposed an 18-month probationary term and ordered Servos to have no contact with the victim.
