Leafs’ camp to benefit children’s centre
The upcoming Toronto Maple Leafs training camp in Niagara Falls will provide a boost for Niagara Children’s Centre.
The support centre has been chosen by the team to be the beneficiary of entry donations for its practices at Gale Centre Sept. 15 and 16.
Several players visited the centre during the Leafs’ 2017 training camp in Niagara Falls. The organization provides rehabilitation and support for more than 3,300 Niagara children and youths with physical, developmental and communicative delays.
“We feel honoured to have the opportunity to raise funds and awareness for Niagara Children’s Centre with hockey fans in Niagara,” said the centre’s CEO, Oksana Fisher, in a statement. “All donations made through the support of the training camp will be directed towards providing physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy and recreational therapy to children living in Niagara.”
Tickets to team events are free with a suggested donation of $5 per person upon entry. They’re available on a first-come-firstserved basis outside Gale Centre starting at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 14, 15 and 16.
The annual Leafs Alumni Game will take place Sept. 15 at 7 p.m. Former stars Wendel Clark, Darcy Tucker, Al Iafrate and others will lace up against Canadian Forces Base Borden. Darryl Sittler and Curtis Joseph will be special team coaches.
