Lock­port comes back to tame Pan­thers

The Lock­port Re­gals came back from a two-goal deficit and edged the Pel­ham Pan­thers 4-3 in Greater On­tario Ju­nior Hockey League ac­tion Wed­nes­day night in western New York.

Lock­port im­proved to 2-14-1-0 and ex­tended its point streak to a sea­son-high two games on goals from Alex Sti­nis, An­thony Trig­ilio, Hunter Lit­man and Tim Lopez.

Lyall Shaw, Cur­tis Emery and Matt Ruigrok each scored a goal for Pel­ham, which was out­shot 35-30 and fell to


Nei­ther team con­verted any of their pow­er­play op­por­tu­ni­ties. The Pan­thers went

0-for-4 with a man ad­van­tage; the Re­gals, 0-for-6.

Pel­ham was seek­ing its fourth win in a row. Lock­port was com­ing off a 3-3 tie in dou­ble over­time with the Thorold Black­hawks.

Goals were scored in streaks. Af­ter the Pan­thers jumped out to a 2-0 lead, the Re­gals replied with three goals of their own to take a lead head­ing into the third pe­riod.

Pel­ham and Lock­port traded goals in the fi­nal frame with the Re­gals net­ting the even­tual gamewin­ner with 8:14 re­main­ing in reg­u­la­tion.

Pel­ham hosts Fort Erie 2:30 p.m. Sun­day. Lock­port is home 7 p.m. Wed­nes­day to the Wel­land Jr. Cana­di­ans.

Thurs­day night’s Golden Horse­shoe Con­fer­ence sched­ule had Thorold 5-9-1-0; host­ing Wel­land, 5-11; in a bat­tle for fifth place in the eight-team con­fer­ence. The sea-

son se­ries is tied at one win apiece.

Thorold is back on the ice at 7 tonight vis­it­ing the con­fer­ence­lead­ing Ni­a­gara Falls Canucks, 14-2-0-1; at Gale Cen­tre. Ni­a­gara Falls, com­ing off a 5-4 loss in dou­ble over­time to Fort Erie, is hop­ing to end a two-game los­ing slide.
