Half Pints widen in 5-pin league standings

As the Niagara 5-Pin Mixed Pro League rolled into its positional roll-off for the second segment, the Scorecard Harry’s Half Pints held a half point lead over their opponents for the evening, the Oh Canada Eh Dinner Show Canucks.

When the dust settled, the Half Pints had increased that lead as a result of their 2-1 win. In a total team effort, the Half Pints were led by Brian McFarlane’s lane scorching 809 (242, 338, 229) while being supported by Shawn Pellizari’s 764 (308, 275), Frank Newman’s 735 (259, 264) and Kayla Ferguson’s 717 (269, 249). The Canucks answered with Brad Gaudreau who had the best individual performanc­e of the night, a sizzling 835 (304, 256, 275) while Brad Maurice backed him up with 785 (268, 337) and Shaun Feere added 695 (228, 284). In the process, the Half Pints rolled the second highest team triple of the season, a sparkling 3,025, only three away from the top, while the Canucks bested their teamhigh single set the previous week, this week throwing a fantastic 1,143.

The Reggie’s Renovation­s Inc. Hammerhead­s blanked the Wine Place Whiners 3-0 as Rob Fisher sparked the winners with a blistering 801 (269, 292, 240) while getting help from Chris Disher’s 753 (227, 330) and P.J. Cole who checked in with 679 (316). The Whiners shot back with Sarah Stevens who rolled 731 (213, 333).

In the evening’s closest match, decided by only 31 pins, the Lakeside Electrical Lightning edged the Dale Mellway Life Insurance Magic 2-1.

Tyler Wendel paced the Lightning with 738 (220, 222, 296) while Wayne Eymann chipped in with 685 (288, 221). The Magic answered with Dave Pendlebury’s 737 (328, 216) and Mike Owen’s 635 (218, 245).

In the evening’s final match also decided by only 70 pins, the Ontario Street Boston Pizza Brutes knocked off the Oh Canada Eh Dinner show Town Criers 2-1. Chantal Papineau had the hot hand for the Brutes rolling a steady 722 (250, 276) while being supported by Trish Aubertin’s 623 (244). The Town Criers replied with Kile Robins’ 756 (240, 260, 256) and Josh Robins who carded 645 (249).
