There’s been a bit of a plot twist with this month’s writer at the Canadian Authors Series in Port Colborne.

Host Elizabeth Madronich says because of a conflicting event, scheduled journalist, author and founding member of the band Rheostatics Dave Bidini has postponed his visit until April 25.

“Instead, we are excited to present Thea Lim, who was named as a shortlisted finalist for the 2018 Scotiabank Giller Prize.”

Lim, who grew up in Singapore and now lives in Toronto, where she is a professor of creative writing, will talk about her novel “An Ocean of Minutes.” The book was released last year by Viking/ Penguin Random House in Canada.

Her writing has been published by the Paris Review, The Guardian, Salon, The National Post, LitHub, Electric Literature, The Millions, The Southampton Review and others, says a bio on her website.

She was longlisted for the 2019 CBC Canada Reads. Her novella “The Same Woman” was released by Invisible Publishing in 2007.

“An Ocean of Minutes” is an unforgettable love story of two people who are at once mere weeks and many years apart, says Penguin Random House.

It says “An Ocean of Minutes” is a gorgeous, devastating novel about courage, yearning, the cost of holding onto the past — and the price of letting it go.

The authors series, now in its 25th year, is held at the Roselawn Centre in Port Colborne, 296 Fielden Ave. It starts at 7 p.m. with a reception, followed by Lim taking the stage at 8 p.m. followed by a question and answer period . Confirmed for
