South Niagara municipali­ties offering up Family Day activities

The schedule of Family Day activities in Welland, Port Colborne, Pelham and Wainfleet is a full one.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Welland Community Wellness Complex will be full of family fun with inflatable­s, a Mad Science fun station, family photo booth, magic, face painting, carnival games and more.

During the same time, a free skate will hit the ice at the Welland main arena on King Street.

Donations of non-perishable food items are being accepted at both events.

Port Colborne is turning Family Day into a weekend with events on Friday, Saturday and Monday.

With Friday being a profession­al activity day for Niagara students, an active camp will run 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for children aged six to 13 at Vale Health and Wellness Centre. There is a $25 fee.

There will also be a free skate at the arena 1 p.m. to 2:20 p.m.

At Port Colborne Public Library, visitors can start an indoor garden with seeds from a seed library using tea cups, soup cans, and more. Cost is $3 and pre-registrati­on is required.

A free skate will be offered Monday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Vale arena, as well as a free swim and other activities at the YMCA from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

The annual Port Colborne SportsFest will also continue through the weekend.

Pelham also has a full schedule at Meridian Community Centre.

There will be a free public skate from 11 a.m to 12:30 p.m., free laser tag from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., a community expo from noon to 2 p.m., and the Golden Boot hockey game, a match that puts Pelham volunteer firefighte­rs against local minor hockey associatio­n coaches.

Wainfleet is offering free public skating at its arena from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday and noon to 1:30 p.m. on Monday.
