BRAINE, Stanley

-

Butterflies are God’s confetti, thrown upon the Earth in celebration of his love. In the arms of his two loving daughters and surrounded by his loved ones, Stanley John Braine, peacefully earned his wings, Friday, August 16, 2019, after a long battle with cancer and pulmonary fibrosis. Stan is predeceased by his wife, Louise, his baby son, Robert, and his parents Stanley John Sr. and Agnes Ann Braine. He is survived by his daughters Kim Ott (Dave) and Michelle Spurgeon (Chuck), and his grandson, Ryan Spurgeon. He will be remembered fondly and forever missed by his companion, Leona Semple, and her family Gary Semple, Lyle Semple (Judy), Judy Lane (Scott) and Colleen Bryant (Bob), and their families. Stan was a Medical Lab Technologist for many years, beginning his career at the Greater Niagara General Hospital and working his way to Chief Lab Technologist of the Listowel Memorial Hospital. Growing up, he was involved with the Boy Scouts for many years, attending many jamborees in Ontario and out East. Stan was always there to lend a helping hand when others needed it. He enjoyed being a member of the Rotary Club in Listowel. He was also the founding a member of Listowel Knights of Columbus Council 8168. Stan shared his love of camping, hiking and fishing with his daughters. Summers up at their cottage at Old Woman’s River are cherished memories. As his disease progressed, Stan also shared his talent for colouring exquisite art. He enjoyed passing the hours blending, shading and getting the picture just right before he could hang it or give it to someone special. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank the many individuals and groups involved in Stan’s health care and support to our family. His family will conduct a Funeral Mass at HOLY NAME OF MARY PARISH, Northeast corner of Peel Street North and Widder Street East, St. Marys, on Thursday, August 22, 2019, with Fr. Chris Pietraszko.
