GRADY, Ayton John “AJ”

Passed away on Friday, August 16, 2019 in Mary’s arms with his family by his side at the South Muskoka Memorial Hospital, Bracebridg­e. Born in St. Catharines, Ontario, AJ was in his 77th year. Forever devoted to loving wife and partner of 38 years, Mary Grady (nee Stewart) of St. David’s, Ontario. Ayton spent his profession­al career as a senior manager at General Motors Foundry, St. Catharines. Ayton was an inventor of Refractory Installati­on Technology and founder of Gradmatic Equipment Inc. He held several patents in this technology. Ayton was very involved in his community, chairing the build of a sports park, a Shriner, member of Order of St. Lazarus, avid sailor in the Bala Sailing Club and active member of Trinity-All-Saints’ Anglican Church, Bala. Loving father of Kipp Grady (Lisa) and Jill Lukey (Chris). Proud and always supportive Papa to Ryan, Nicholas, Dawson and Ava. Devoted son to Reta Grady and the late Alex Grady. He will be greatly missed by his brother David Grady (Bobbi), and predecease­d by Brian Grady. Dearly remembered by his church family, especially his “little sister” Nancy Houghton, AKA Pita. Ayton was also survived by Kharma. A memorial service will be held at Trinity-All-Saints’ Anglican Church, Bala, on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion in Bala. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made for Hospice Muskoka- Andy’s House Hospice or Trinity-All-Saints’ Anglican Church.
